The primary functions of the Board of Directors are to establish short term tactical and long-term strategies objectives for the Institute, and provide oversight and direction to the Executive Director. The Board is a twelve member body that represents industry, academia and government. One member serves in an advisory (non-voting) capacity.
Current members include:
- Mr. James Thomas (Chair), President and CEO of George, Miles & Buhr, LLC.
- Dr. Thelma Thompson (Vice Chair), President, University of Maryland Eastern Shore
- Mr. Michael Pennington (Secretary/Treasurer), Executive Director Maryland Tri-County Council
- Hon. David Edgerley, Maryland Secretary of Business and Economic Development
- Mr. Richard Bernstein, President, L-3 Communications/BAI Aerosystems (Retired)
- Dr. Janet Dudley-Eshbach, President, Salisbury University
- Dr. Dan Mote, President, University of Maryland College Park
- Mr. Bart Olson, President, ATK Elkton LLC.
- Dr. Roseanne Runte, President, Old Dominion University
- Ms. Renee Winsky, Executive Director, Maryland Technology Development Corp.
- Mr. Richard Baldwin, Spaceport Manager, Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport
- Dr. John Campbell, Senior Manager, NASA Wallops Flight Facility (non-voting member)
